Kenzo Designer Info

Although the name of Kenzo Takada has been familiar to those in the fashion world since the early 1970s, it is only in the past few years that he has come to enjoy mainstream success around the world thanks to his increasingly popular fragrances that are sold under the Kenzo brand.

Kenzo perfumes were first sold in 1988, with the launch of his women’s perfume Kenzo de Kenzo. This was the springboard to international acclaim for the Japanese designer, and a number of other fragrances followed quite quickly. After 3 years, in 1991, the Kenzo label was taken over by the vase French luxury goods brand LVMH, which also owns Louis Vuitton, Moet et Chandon, and Hennessy, as well as a whole host of other fashion labels.

With the enormous investment possible from the new owners, the Kenzo Takada stable quickly rose in prominence to become one of the biggest brands in Europe and the Far East, with the various Kenzo fragrances entering the most popular lists of perfumes around the world.

With the increasing attention that was paid to his work, Kenzo Takada revealed what has become his most popular and successful fragrance, Fleur by Kenzo, which comes in a striking bottle that has been designed to include a single rose as part of the shape. This perfume, which has become a firm favorite with women all over the world combines an attractive floral scent with rich undertones of musk that make it a great everyday perfume that has enough complexity to be a very sensual and alluring fragrance when worn in the evening or at night.

Kenzo Takada retired from fashion in 1999 in order to concentrate on traveling and soaking up new experiences around the world. After 6 years outside the industry, Kenzo returned to design in a completely different way with his new venture of home wears at Gokan Kobo, which takes the 5 senses as its inspiration and drawing on the traditional Japanese design ethics for restraint. The line has been extremely popular around the world and much imitated by other designers who want to achieve similar results from their home wear lines.
