During her short life, Jeanne Marie Lanvin created what has gone on to become one of the most exclusive of all the French Fashion houses, and indeed one of the most glamorous companies in the whole world. Influencing many of the leading 20th century fashion designers, and creating a niche for itself at the very top echelons of the world of luxury goods. Lanvin remains a label that is highly sought after, and one that appeals very much to people who truly understand what fashion is and what it means.
The Lanvin design house has always been linked with the most exquisite creations. Only the finest quality products are used in manufacturing, and a surprisingly high number of items from the company are only available on a couture basis, rather than as prêt a porter.
Lanvin started out by making special clothes for her own daughter, and these quickly caught the imagination of other people around her, and she quickly founds herself becoming one of the busiest designers in France, constantly in demand for the unique and stunning dresses.
Unfortunately, the Second World War curtailed the initial growth of the business, and by the time the fighting was over, Jeanne Marie Lanvin was old and died in 1946. Happily, her daughter had paid attention to the concepts of style and exclusivity that her mother had taught her, and under her stewardship, success continued.
A period of ownership as part of the massive L’Oreal group in the 1980s and 1990s saw some of the most special areas of the company undermined thanks to the lack of true creative direction, but after being taken private again in 1996, Lanvin, now the oldest fashion house in the world that is still operating has found its feet once more, and is continuing to appeal to the very highest echelons of society, and is once more sought after as the brand of choice for those who truly crave something genuinely special from their clothing and other luxury goods.
With a comprehensive range of everything from Lanvin shoes through to Lanvin fragrances and cosmetics available, consumers can get a taste of the sumptuousness of the brand for themselves, although the lines are only sold through the Lanvin Boutiques in the world’s major cities.
