The Hermes brand was first founded back in 1837 as a luxury maker of all the necessities for travel during the 19th century. It produced leather goods, suitcases, trunks, and convenience kits that were stylish and of the very finest quality to appeal to the first class travelers of the day. The early success that it had in this field saw it become one of the pre-eminent fashion brands in Europe as its well produced travel accessories became de rigueur, and the people of the era sought out more goods that were made to the same standard and specifications.

The first Hermes perfume was launched in 1951.
