A comparative newcomer into the world of fashion, Nicole Miller has only been active in her own right as a designer with her own label since 1996 when she took the step of leaving her lucrative role as a chief designer of fashion for a number of high end department stores and opened her own boutique to sell her own creations.

Nicole Miller set out her stall as a woman who wanted to become the top designer in the USA, and the first choice for the world’s most glamorous women on Oscar night. She aimed for the very top, and thanks to her brave and innovative designs, coupled with her incredible ability and eye for fashion; it did not take long for her creations to get the attention of some of Hollywood’s most famous women. Nicole Miller quickly rose in prominence, and used her marketing skills and persistence to ensure that her clothes were seen in the right places at the right time.

She made a point in the early years of her label of designing for celebrities rather than the catwalk - although she had a number of highly successful shows around the world, and attracted plenty of attention thanks to the quality of her designs.

With her core label well established thanks to the use of celebrities in promoting her fashion lines, Nicole Miller moved into consumer fashion in 2003 with the launch of her Miller Girl sportswear line, which became immediately popular amongst younger women thanks to the high profile it enjoyed amongst many sporting and music icons.

The Miller Girl line was followed a year later by a further expansion of the Nicole Miller range with her Signature line. While this was a more formal line of clothing than her sports clothes, it was still aimed at a real world woman who wanted to own a classic dress or other item that took the inspiration of her unique cat walk collections and made it more wearable and realistic to own.
