The Italian fashion designer Emmanuel Ungaro has been at the front line of fashion for more than 50 years, and throughout this time his clothes have constantly inspired people all over the world to enjoy them, thanks to the attention to detail, flattering lines, and the understanding that he shows to people who want to look good.
The Ungaro Fashion house has been established for more than 50 years, and although it was recently taken over by new owners, the designers who work within it in order to create the unique look that the company prides itself on are still just as committed to producing innovative and exciting clothes that are designed to be worn, rather than being impractical or uncomfortable.
Although Ungaro himself has lived in Paris for most of his professional career, he remains an Italian at heart, and the passion that you associate with the Latin temperament is definitely at the core of his designs. Never understated, and always flattering, the couture collections that Ungaro produced are still highly sought after by both collectors and other designers who want to own something that is a real classic.
There were just 5 years between Ungaro’s first prêt a porter collection for women, and the release of his first men’s line – Ungaro Uomo in 1973, and the speed with which his label has continued to develop has been impressive.
Like many of the other large French fashion houses, Ungaro moved into cosmetics in the early 1980s with the sensuous fragrance Diva, which was an instant classic, and which was quickly followed over the coming years by other fragrances such as Senso and his signature fragrances Ungaro, and Ungaro for Men in 1991.
The biggest change to Ungaro came in 1996 when the company joined forces with the Italian jeweler Bulgari to create a range of exclusive designer perfumes and cosmetics for the luxury market. Fleur de Diva, Desnuda, and Apparition have all been released by the joint company, and all are extremely popular thanks to their ability to offer such deep and sensuous fragrances that suit almost any woman and flatter her beauty.
Of course, the brand has not left couture behind, and the current lead designer at Ungaro, Esteban Cortazar has already gained a great deal of respect from people all over the world who want to be able to enjoy the elegant lines and subtle detailing of Ungaro classics.
